Symmetry Citrus Tonic Essence

Brand

Symmetry by Geometric Drinks.

Inspired by Fynbos Floral Kingdom and the Cape’s botanical and spice-infused history, alchemy and production are run by Jean-Baptiste Cristini (Tista). Born and raised in the Cape to a South African mother and French father. Enthralled by wine since his early teens, he followed his patrilineal heritage to Burgundy, and then Champagne.

After over a decade in Chablis and Champagne, he finally returned home where he discovered the endless creativity and passion of the South African wine industry. Distilling had been a hobby for several years, prompted by home-brewing in Champagne with his friends and the immersion into experimentation and mixology. On arrival back in the Cape in 2013, Tista decided to distil his own gin and tonic essences using locally sourced botanicals.

A quarter of the sugar content of regular tonic, each recipe is made to be appreciated not only as a mixer but also on its own. The addition of various botanicals brings aromatics, savoury and bitter flavours without requiring large amounts of sugar.

Brewed from a selection of fresh citrus zests and Buchu giving its distinctive aroma. Buchu, part of the Fynbos Floral Kingdom, is traditionally used for digestive ailments. We find it growing in the wild on the mid slopes of the Cape Mountains.

Zero Drinks say:

We love this brand and the bottle, it makes you feel like a mixologist when making up your own tonic. The price seems high, but when you mix it on a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio it works out to be similar to the pre-made tonics we sell. The ingredients are all natural and it has a quarter of the sugar content of regular tonics.
