Theonista is an independent, female-owned small craft beverage company located in Woodstock, Cape Town. The name “Theonista” a feminine, assertive twist on the Greek word “Theobroma” meaning “food of the gods.” For all Theonista products, the combination of high quality ingredients and expert fermentation and/or brewing methods translates into an approach they are proud of and a difference you can truly taste.
Theonista has grown exponentially over the past few years, but in many ways it is still very much the same as it was at the start. They make everything in small batches, overwhelmingly use people over machines, rely on whole ingredients rather than artificial anything, cherish organic and indigenous botanicals, are just as committed as ever to our social and ecological ethics, and are totally obsessed with creating the very best things they can.

A deliciously healthy twist on a classic, our 100% natural ginger beer is brewed in small batches and infused with organic rooibos. We use only fresh, whole ingredients and our sugar-free version is sweetened with xylitol and stevia only (mainstream commercial brands in SA have 11.8% sugar).

Theonista are our favourite sodas. Most popular soda brands (soft drinks) you find in the supermarket are loaded with sugar, artificial sweeteners, additives, preservatives or colourants, all which have adverse consequences on your health. Theonista sodas are the antithesis of these - much lower in sugar, made only with high quality natural ingredients and taste absolutely amazing!
This sugar-free version of the Ginger Beer uses xylitol & stevia (natural sweeteners) to replace the sugar as used in the Original Ginger Beer.
